Water Filtration Plant

The new Prospect water filtration plant west of Sydney, with a capacity of 3000 megalitres now provides quality drinking water to 80% of Sydney's population.

Precast filter slabs, dwarf walls and launder elements housed inside insitu concrete tankls form the basis of the precast content which has been built to extremely tight tolerances of +0/-1mm in order that the filter nozzles and hydraulic weir requirements retain functionality. As well, the environmental exposure classification of Class C required SCI to develop and design special high performance concrete for this demanding durability classification.

Tolerances were fully achieved utilising specialised dimensionally accurate and very rigid moulds. Uniform temperature conditions during manufacture and curing were maintained to further ensure achievement of tolerances.
